In early January we went out to the Kootenay Mountains for the annual Greg Todds Memorial NoBoard Race. It's a great time, with old friends coming out to honour the memory of our friend Greg who died in an avalanche.

This year I really wanted to try to capture some of the feeling and culture of the event and the people using my favourite camera, the Hasselblad 501 with an 80mm 2.8 lens. I shot a photo of Greg with this same camera a few days before he died so it felt right. I used Porta 160 and Kodak Tmax 100 BW film. The feeling and look of the camera and film really captures the essence of what this event is all about: Friends, fun, competition (in a fun way), and straight up redneck/hippy BC madness.
